Die neue Gesellschaft – Vereinigung für politische Bildung e.V.

The Neue Gesellschaft (New Society) was founded in 1954 as an organisation dedicated to the political education of social democrats who were part of the resistance in Hamburg during the Third Reich. The independent, non-partisan association primarily funds its activities with the help of public donations. Our work today, over fifty years later, is as committed as always to the vision of a new democratic society. The success of a living democracy depends on people who give careful consideration to their own opinions and examine the opinions of others, who get involved in political decision making processes and who take responsibility and become active in their own community as well as in society as a whole.

Our services contribute to political information and discussions. Our goal is to bring people together and create forums for discussion in order to foster understanding and tolerance. The topics we address reflect the current politically charged issues of our time. We also examine particularly unpleasant questions that often receive only inadequate attention in political debates.
